3D Viewer Not Loading? WebGL and Compatibility Mode

If a floor-plan preview reports that a WebGL context could not be created, the browser has been unable to initialize the graphics rendering path. That does…

If a floor-plan preview reports that a WebGL context could not be created, the browser has been unable to initialize the graphics rendering path. That does not by itself mean the uploaded drawing is invalid or that the conversion failed.

3D House Maker includes a compatibility renderer that displays the wall model without relying on a WebGL graphics context. This is especially useful in an embedded browser where graphics acceleration may be unavailable.

Separate processing from viewing

First check whether conversion completed and whether the 2D wall overlay is available. If the wall geometry exists but the 3D view has a graphics problem, uploading the same image repeatedly is unlikely to solve the viewing issue.

A failed upload, an unsupported file, and a rendering error are different problems. Read the message shown in the workspace and keep the original file available before reloading the page.

Try the compatibility view

When WebGL is unavailable, the viewer can use an SVG-based rendering path. You can still rotate the wall model and inspect its arrangement. The lighting and appearance differ from the accelerated view, so compare geometry rather than expecting identical shading.

Complex plans may feel slower in compatibility mode. A simpler source with fewer irrelevant shapes reduces the amount of geometry to display. Do not remove real walls merely to improve performance; use a working copy and compare it carefully with the original.

Check the browsing environment

If you are viewing the site inside another application, try opening the same site in a regular browser window. Embedded browsers can have different graphics permissions or capabilities. Save any downloads you need before changing environments, since the active project may not transfer automatically.

Keep your browser current and use its normal supported configuration. There is no need to disable browser security or install an unknown graphics extension to use these planning tools.

Distinguish a blank camera view from missing geometry

Use the view control to return to a top or perspective view, then adjust zoom. A camera positioned too close or too far can make a valid model difficult to see. Compare with the 2D overlay to confirm whether walls were actually detected.

If the overlay is also empty or incomplete, revisit the input drawing instead. Faint walls, heavy annotations, or an incorrect PDF page can affect extraction before the viewer is involved.

Preserve useful evidence

When reporting a problem, note the browser, whether it is embedded, whether the 2D overlay works, and the exact visible error text. Do not share project access keys or private drawings publicly.

The compatibility renderer is a viewing aid, not a correction to the model. Continue with reviewing generated walls once the preview is visible, or read why walls are missing if the geometry itself is incomplete.
