Draw a floor plan you can return to
A useful first plan is simple enough to edit and precise enough to compare. This free floor plan creator lets you draw wall segments, place rectangular furniture items, and keep an editable project file. Start with the outer footprint, add the internal divisions you know, and leave uncertain details for a later revision.
The drawing stays in your browser tab. You can save a JSON project and reopen it here, or export an SVG or PNG for a discussion. Saving the project preserves the editable objects; exporting an image gives you a picture of the current drawing.

Start with the room envelope
The initial example is an 8 m by 6 m rectangle. It is a starting example, not a suggested size for your home. Set the width and depth for the drawing area using your measurements. If existing walls would fall outside a smaller area, move or delete those walls first. This avoids silently clipping part of your plan.
Use one measurement convention throughout. For a furniture study, internal room dimensions are usually the useful reference. Do not mix an outside building width with an inside room width and assume they describe the same boundary. Record wall thickness separately when you need it.
Add walls with a mouse or coordinates
Choose Draw walls, then select a start and end point on the grid. The editor snaps to quarter-metre increments. For a wall that needs different coordinates, open Add wall by coordinates and enter its start and end positions directly. Each visible wall segment shows its length.
You can create an opening by drawing two separated wall segments. The editor does not currently include parametric doors or windows. Leaving a gap expresses an opening in a concept plan; it does not specify a door frame, sill, lintel, or construction detail.
Select a wall outside drawing mode to remove it. Undo returns to the previous edit, with a limited history for this tab. Save separate project files when you want to preserve major alternatives.
Place furniture as measured footprints
Add a bed, sofa, table, desk, or wardrobe. The initial dimensions are editable examples. Select the item and enter the width and depth from the product you actually intend to use. Drag it into position, adjust its X and Y coordinates, and rotate it by 90 degrees when needed.
The overlap notices compare rectangular furniture footprints and the drawing boundary. They can help you spot an obvious clash, but they do not measure walking routes, door swings, drawer opening space, or accessibility requirements. Leave those spaces deliberately and check them against the actual room.
Inspect the 3D wall preview
Switch to 3D walls to examine the drawn segments at an angle. The preview uses a fixed 0.15 m wall thickness and a 2.8 m height for visualization. Furniture remains in the 2D plan. These assumptions do not describe the actual construction of your building.
A 3D preview is useful for checking whether the wall arrangement matches your intention. Return to 2D for furniture positions and detailed coordinates. If your starting point is an existing image, use the floor-plan-to-3D converter instead of trying to import the image as an editable drawing project.
Save the right file for the next step
| File | Best use | What it preserves |
|---|---|---|
| Project JSON | Reopening and editing in this tool | Walls, furniture, dimensions and positions |
| SVG | A scalable drawing for sharing | Visible 2D lines, shapes and labels |
| PNG | A convenient image for a message or document | A raster picture of the current plan |
Export SVG and PNG from the 2D view. Keep a project JSON alongside any image, so a later change does not require you to start again. A drawing JSON from this tool is different from the converter's detected-geometry JSON.
Common questions
Can I create a construction-ready blueprint?
This editor produces concept drawings. It does not provide structural calculations, code checks, services layouts, or the documentation needed for approvals. Use the drawing to organize ideas and discuss them with the relevant professionals.
Is my plan automatically saved?
No. Your edits stay in the current tab until you save a project file. Download a copy before closing the tab or navigating away. Use descriptive filenames for alternatives, such as living-room-option-a.json.
Can I draw an angled wall?
Yes. A wall is defined by two points, so it can run diagonally. Coordinate inputs help you reproduce a measured angle. The quarter-metre click grid is a convenience, not a substitute for accurate measurements.
What should I check before sharing?
Review the units, key room dimensions, missing openings, furniture sizes, and any assumptions in the 3D view. Explain that the drawing is a concept. Read how to measure a room before building a layout around uncertain numbers.
Put your next idea on the plan.
Start with a measured input and keep a copy of your project.
