Inspect a supported DXF without uploading it
This free browser viewer reads common ASCII DXF files containing LINE and LWPOLYLINE geometry. The file is read locally in your browser. Use it to inspect supported linework and produce an SVG or JSON copy for a simpler viewing workflow.
It is a focused line viewer, rather than a complete CAD workstation. Binary DXF, native DWG, complex blocks, text, hatches, curves or three-dimensional entities may not be displayed as expected. A drawing that looks empty here can still contain entities supported by a full CAD application.
Open and review the drawing
Choose an ASCII DXF under 10 MB. Keep your original file unchanged. After opening it, check the visible line segments, the overall boundary and the position of important internal walls. Verify the drawing in the CAD program that produced it if the linework differs.
If a plan relies on blocks or unsupported entities, export a working copy with simple line or polyline geometry from your CAD software where possible. Do not rename a DWG to .dxf: changing the extension does not convert its internal format.
Example: check a rectangular room
For a source drawing whose room outline spans 5000 by 4000 drawing units, look for four connected sides and the expected internal linework. If the CAD project uses millimetres, that source rectangle represents 5 by 4 metres. The browser's visual fit does not establish units or independently verify those measurements.
A drawing in inches and one in millimetres can both fit the preview pane. Check the source units and an actual known dimension before using an exported image to explain the size of a room. A missing doorway may be a source-file or supported-entity issue rather than a scale problem.
Export a viewing copy
Download SVG for scalable line graphics, or JSON to retain the parsed segments in this tool's format. These exports do not preserve every CAD object, layer style, annotation or design constraint from the source. Open the downloaded copy before sharing it and retain the original DXF alongside it.
The JSON exported here is a segment record. It is not interchangeable with the manual editor's project JSON or the image converter's detected-geometry JSON. SVG is a graphic file, not a permit drawing or a native DWG conversion.
For raster input, use the image-to-DXF workflow. Read the SVG export checks and pixels versus physical dimensions before presenting a drawing as measured.
