A saved project file is the difference between keeping a picture of a plan and being able to continue editing its objects. In the drawing tools, project JSON stores the wall segments, furniture, dimensions, and positions needed to reopen the layout.
Download the project before closing the tab or navigating away. The current drawing tools do not provide an account-based online project archive.
Save a measured baseline
After entering the verified room geometry, save a baseline file before exploring alternatives. Use a descriptive name that distinguishes it from a proposal. Keeping the baseline intact makes later comparisons easier to trust.
The JSON is plain structured data, but you do not need to edit it manually. The creator's Open project control reads supported files and checks the expected structure and limits.
Separate major alternatives
Save each meaningful option under a new name. For example, keep office-baseline.json, office-desk-window.json, and office-desk-side-wall.json. Avoid overwriting the only measured version with an experiment.
The current editor keeps a limited undo history within the tab. A downloaded file is the more durable checkpoint for returning to a design after the session ends.
Distinguish the two JSON workflows
A drawing project JSON contains the creator's editable wall segments and furniture. A converter geometry JSON contains wall polygons detected from an uploaded image, along with geometry information and warnings. They are different formats for different purposes.
Do not expect a detected-geometry file to open as a drawing project. Keep the original upload and its conversion output together, while using project JSON for drawings created in the manual editor.
Reopen and inspect the saved file
Use Open project and select the downloaded drawing file. Confirm the envelope, walls, and furniture match the version you intended to save. This is a useful practical check before relying on a file as your only copy.
Imported files are validated for the supported project structure and bounded object counts. A file from another tool or an unsupported version may be rejected. Keep the original file and avoid changing fields randomly to force an import.
Keep presentation exports alongside it
Export SVG or PNG for a person who only needs to view the plan. Keep those images associated with the matching JSON revision. An attractive image without its source may require substantial work to recreate when a change is requested.
Store important projects in a location you back up yourself. The floor plan creator runs the drawing session in your browser; downloading and organizing the files remains part of your workflow.
